INterlocked

University of Houston, 2019.

Adding to New Orleans architectural riverline, Interlocked is both a community exhibition center and a research lab for the environmental effects surrounding the Mississippi river.

Further development of Crecent City Park just a few blocks away from the French Quarter engages the industrial past and present of the Mississippi and encourages recreational areas within the dense Metropolis.

The concrete shell structure elevates it’s main components above 20 feet to protect daily functions during flooding events. Individual forms are mirrored and over lapped to create a shaded exterior experience. Intentional invitation of the water’s perimeter across the site encourages users to weave under the building, as well as through the programmatic interior and throughout the park itself.
